Welcome to Summer Term in Year 3!
Miss Jackson will be teaching on Mondays and Tuesdays, and Miss Christie will be teaching on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays; Mrs McDonald will be our teaching assistant.

BBC CHILDREN IN NEED DAY

We had a wonderful day raising money for BBC Children in Need even though we had to run around the playground for 20 minutes solid! It was all for a great cause, and real perseverance was shown by all with lots of encouragement along the way. Thank you to everyone who donated and for the added spots!
Anti-Bullying Week

On Monday we all wore odd socks to school to mark the start of Anti-Bullying Week. ‘Odd Socks Day’ is used to symbolise that we are all unique in our own different ways. There was certainly an array of colour in year 3 which brightened up our Monday morning!
Autumn Poetry

The children have written some wonderful autumn poetry recently based on the senses. They are all really proud to have their work displayed in the classroom.
Exploring light sources

This week in science, we started our new topic on ‘Light’. The children sorted different images, according to whether they were a light source or not. They then sorted the light sources into man-made and natural. We had some interesting answers to begin with! But it was a real insight into what the children already knew and we are looking forward to exploring darkness next week.
Maths Investigators!

The whole school were set a mathematical challenge by Mr Routledge this week using geometrical shapes and counters. The children had 36 counters each and had to arrange them in rows using different shapes in order to help create different packaging shapes for a sweet shop. There was some amazing mathematical discussions amongst the children as well as brilliant collaborative work. See if your child can tell you what we found out at home!
