In PE, we have been practising different ball skills using our hands and feet. It was lovely to see the sunshine today after a few days of heavy rain!
School Council

We received quite a few manifestoes for our School Council elections which was wonderful! Thank you to all of you who helped their child with this. The children held their election last week so meet our new reps for 2023-24!
Character Drama
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 3 Class Blog
This week we have been continuing with our class read ‘The Last Bear’ which we have been using in our sentence stacking lessons in English. To help us with our writing, we carried out some drama based on the character’s feelings. We created a ‘thought alley’ where the children whispered positive and negative thoughts into the character’s ears to help her come to a decision in the story.
Our First Week!
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 3 Class Blog
We have had an amazing first week in year 3! We have been so impressed with how well the children have all settled and it has been wonderful getting to know them over the past few days. The children started their new topic on ‘Poles Apart’ where they researched the Arctic Circle using the iPads to gather any information. We also used Google Earth to find out where Bear Island is which is linked to our class story, ‘The Last Bear’ by Hannah Gold.
How big is the classroom?
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 3 Class Blog
Last week in maths, the whole school was set a mathematical challenge of finding out how big our classrooms are. The children worked in pairs to carry out their investigations and in the beginning had to decide how they would tackle this challenge. There were lots of wonderful mathematical discussions as well as some interesting measuring! Some decided to use rulers, metre sticks, bodies, feet and shoes! It was wonderful to see all the children engaged and enthusiastic!
