Welcome to Spring Term in Year 3!
Happy New Year! We hope you have all had a super Christmas and New Year and are looking forward to the year ahead!
On this page, you should find everything you need to know - our Meet the Teacher Information Evening presentation, curriculum map, knowledge organisers and weekly blog (starting on Friday) are full of information but please contact us should there be anything else you need - please address any emails to both teachers.
Mrs Moleele will be teaching on Mondays and Tuesdays and Miss Christie will teach on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Mrs McDonald and Miss McNamara will be our teaching assistants all week. Miss Smith and Mrs Starkey will cover PPA time.

Friction Investigators!

This week in Science we have been learning about friction as well as exploring which materials provide the most friction. We carried out a class experiment to investigate this, focusing on how to keep the investigation fair as well as comparing our results. We had a real variety of predictions but we found that carpet and bubble wrap provided the most friction when sending a car down a ramp.

We enjoyed a wonderful quick cricket taster session with Amy from the YMCA who will be teaching us all about athletics in the summer term. It was amazing to be outside in the sunshine and we definitely have some keen cricketers in Year 3! The children will be putting their skills to the test during break times.
Barbara Hepworth

Last week, we started our sculpture project on Barbara Hepworth. The children have been using their sketch books to explore, evaluate and sketch some of Hepworth’s work. They have started to use this information to design some of their own abstract sculptures which they will then make out of clay.
Greek Day!

What an amazing day we had! It was lovely to be off timetable for one day and really immerse ourselves in some Greek culture as well as having fun with the children. We made traditional Greek crowns using natural materials, tasted some Greek foods and made our own gyros, located Greece on a map and researched some Ancient Greek history as well as finishing the day with some Zorba dancing! We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our families for their efforts with the children’s costumes. We are so grateful and they all looked exceptional!
