Learning about Religion
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 3 Class Blog
The children have done lots of learning about gods and goddesses this week! In RE, they were furthering their knowledge of Hindus, who worship different gods and goddesses on different days of the week. They practised some meditation - some really enjoyed this practice and could see how it would help clear your mind and focus your attention on what really matters to you, whatever that might be. Then in history, we were learning about some of the key gods and goddesses in Ancient Greece - can you remember who Zeus' daughter was, Year 3? Have a lovely weekend - enjoy the sunshine!
Democracy!
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 3 Class Blog
Coincidentally with it being Polling Day yesterday, Year 3 were learning about Ancient Greek democracy in Athens, which was the beginnings of the voting system we still use today! Of course, women were not seen as important enough to have had the vote in those days, which was most disappointing to the girls, though from their suffragette learning in Year 2, they were able to see how democracy has come on since Ancient Greek times!
A reminder - please ensure all green reading records are in school on Thursdays with at least one comment for the week about how the reading is going and whether the book is finished or to be continued. Thank you.
Ancient Greece, here we come!
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 3 Class Blog
This week has seen the start of our Ancient Greece topic and so far, we have had a great start! The children have found out lots of Greek vocabulary, collaborated on a research task and started to think about Greek city states. Can you remember how many years ago the Ancient Greeks were around, Year 3?! Take a look at some of our research below:
Easter

It's been a busy week of Easter treats - cards, cushions and church...and even some colourings with a SPAG theme this afternoon! Time to switch off and enjoy some Spring sunshine. Have a Happy Easter, everyone!
Escape!
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 3 Class Blog
The children were unlucky enough to be locked in the stock room during our science lesson on Friday afternoon! They had to solve clues about magnets to get themselves out - fortunately most did..!
