Trip to Lotherton Hall
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 1 Class Blog
Year 1 had a brilliant day at Lotherton Hall yesterday despite the rain. They met Florence Nightingale and learned more about her life and work, as well as undergoing nurse training themselves. They also loved looking around Wildlife World and enjoying the playground.
Autumn Walk
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 1 Class Blog
We are learning about seasonal change in science at the moment. This afternoon we went on a nature walk around the school grounds to see what signs of Autumn we could find. Year 1 found pine cones, acorns and lots and lots of fallen, colourful leaves.
Beegu Art
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 1 Class Blog
In Year 1 this week we have been reading the book 'Beegu' by Alexis Deacon and doing writing linked to the story. This afternoon Year 1 used a mixture of drawing, cutting, sticking and pastels to create their own Beegu-inspired artwork. Don't they look fantastic?
Maths - Representing Numbers
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 1 Class Blog
Some of our maths groups did some brilliant thinking in pairs using counters and ten frames to practise representing numbers. They followed this up with some super written maths work. Well done1
Our Weather Tree
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 1 Class Blog
As part of our science learning, Year 1 have worked together to create a Weather Tree to record the weather over the whole year. The children thought of lots of different types of weather, devised a key to help us record them, and used their cutting skills to make leaves for the Weather Tree.
