Antarctic-Awe
Posted: Dec 5, 2025 by: H Christie (hfountain) on: Year 3 Class Blog
I was going to put something about our science lesson on the blog today (there was much excitement for our torch investigation!!) but we had an even more exciting time this morning when we were part of the first EVER livestream from Antarctica, meeting Robert Swan OBE, who told us all about his current expedition as part of the 2041 Foundation. He is encouraging children to become ‘Champions of Antarctica’ by looking after the continent which belongs to all nations - he told us that if the whole of Antarctica was divided between all humans, we would technically own about a football pitch’s size each! The children were in awe and had lots of questions; oh and they especially enjoyed meeting Teddy, who has been by Robert’s side on each of his 40+ polar expeditions! Hopefully they are all still feeling inspired to take care of the world and have continued their learning about this amazing part of it!
PS If possible, please remember to bring a shoe box to school next week for Mrs Moleele’s DT project.
