Welcome to Year 3
Miss Riches is our class teacher, supported part time by Mrs Pullan, and Mrs Starkey will cover PPA time.
PE days will be Tuesday and Wednesday (swimming).
The first swimming session is Wednesday 16th September.
Reading books will be collected in on a Thursday and sent home on a Thursday.
Spellings will be sent home on a Wednesday and tested on Wednesday.
Mental arithmetic will be tested on a Wednesday.
Please make sure water bottles are brought in each day and pumps are in school for each child.

Stump Cross Caverns!

What a brilliant end to the eek the Year 3s had! From start to finish, the children were engaged and excited about all things fossil, rocks and Stone Age! We had a talk about the history of the caverns first then headed down to see them for ourselves. The stalagmites, stalactites and columns were very impressive - can you remember which one is which, Year 3?! The children loved thinking up new names for the different ones! We even went into a cavern where wolverine bones were once found and tried out a bed where one of the staff had slept during a 3 month challenge living underground - Oscar reckoned he could cope down there for a full year...but we didn't test that out! After a lovely sunny lunch outside with beautiful views of the Dales, we had the chance to build on our class learning about fossils and do our own fossil dig and ammonite fossil casting. A great day had by all!
